Good News Boston!

Open ye the gates that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in. Isaiah 26:2

Good News Boston! I was born and raised in the Boston area and so were my parents. After graduating Mass College of Art in 1972 I struck out for some adventure on the west coast and to rescue a friend of mine who I suspected, from her scripture-filled letters about Jesus, had joined a cult. I walked on to the Lord's Land near Mendocino on Friday the 13th but for me it was the greatest day of my life.

That day I truly recognized God's love for me, my own inadequacies without Him and that His plan for all mankind far surpassed my meager ideas of justice. I handed over my life to Him on that day and have never looked back except to shudder at how great the darkness is in a world without the sacrifice of the Spotless Lamb of God. What I was experiencing was a move of God known as the 'Jesus Movement'. Young people especially were searching for something. The new libertinism of the 60's had resulted in lives wasted in dissolution,
drugs, free-love and distrust for their parent's lifestyles. The Viet Nam war added further to the "flower child" youth rebellion. Some say the Jesus Movement was prayed in by mothers.

I know my mom prayed me into a walk with Jesus.

The Blind Painter: At Mass Art I considered making art the highest human activity and planned to make paintings that would speak to man's highest aspirations. Then as I traveled across the country in the back of a rattling pickup truck the scales fell from my eyes and I began to see my goal had been like building a
Tower of Babel which presumed to reach God. I was deflated, out of my comfort zone, divorced, just passed the bloom of my youth and ready to negotiate with a loving God who was keeping a watchful eye on me knowing just when I would realize He was the One I was looking for. The rest is "her-story" which I will get to in future postings but thirty five years later I find myself and my husband of 28 years in Boston working out our salvation in fear and trembling. We believe God sent us here and He has a plan of redemption not just for us but for Boston. We would rather be part of that plan to see that "shining city on a hill" become a beacon to the world than anything. There are so many students here and internationals it is a great place to reach the nations.

Can any Good News come from Boston? some say sarcastically. There is plenty if you don't pay attention to the mainline media. There are so many events and ministries that no one person can attend or even know about
them all at once. I have a sense the Holy Spirit is orchestrating
a great surprise and our job as believers is to learn our
part and be ready to perform on cue.

Back in the 80's I published a newsletter by the same name so this is a continuation of that bold confession over Boston. I choose to see where God wants to take us and focus on God's redemptive plan. We serve a God who would not lose a single one of His beloved sheep. This is the Good News that Boston needs to hear. We have heard enough bad news from a compromised government and biased media infiltrated by people with an agenda hostile to the Kingdom of God. I will be reporting the good news and occasionally those things we need to pray about. If you would like to report please send it to GoodNewsBoston@gmail.com.

Ned was Here!
I've been wanting to start a blog for a long time and my son Ned has gotten it set up. It is so easy for the younger generation to navigate the blogosphere. Not so for me so bear with me while I go it alone.
Ned, our youngest son couldn't even stay 24 hours before heading west on the Mass Pike on his way to upstate NY where he has a summer internship. He attended a robot tournament before coming here but had to put a new fuel pump in his '94 Volvo to get here. He's going to return to school in Texas in a couple of weeks with a robot arena in the wayback and will be organizing a bot event at his college where he will be entering his senior year.

We visited the Church on Harvard Hill which is a community of missionaries to Cambridge from Korea. After a semester over there, Ned was shown around Seoul by several new friends who are now living here. So the world is shrinking and our hearts are expanding as we get to know other cultures and help each other explore and reach our calls.

So this post is dedicated to you Ned, as you turn 21. We are proud of you and we're thankful for all your great qualities. Dad and I are looking forward to the future with you and watching you walk into your destiny. Happy Birthday, Neddie!
